SRi reflects on a successful 15 years and looks toward the future

Posted by in Uncategorised

The global sports industry has changed dramatically since SRi’s foundation in 2001. From the way people communicate and consume content, to the gradual blurring of lines between fashion, entertainment and sport, the world in which we all now live is remarkably different to the one that SRi was born into at the turn of the century.

We reflected upon the evolution of the industry, and of SRi itself, when we celebrated our 15th birthday last week with colleagues and friends at a drinks reception in London, hosted by our Chairman Mike Squires.

Growth and change2-logos

It isn’t just the industry that’s changed, we’ve changed too. The simple evolution of our logo over the past decade and a half reflects how we’ve grown, increasingly working with businesses in sporting goods, media, fashion and entertainment.

Since our foundation in London in 2001, we’ve spread our wings further afield and now have offices and consultants spread right across the world. The past 12 months alone has seen SRi expand into North America and continental Europe by opening dedicated offices in Canada and Germany, in addition to consultants joining the team to focus on the USA and Japan.

A global presence across all sport

Though we may have started in the UK, SRi has a long and proud history as a global company trusted by senior executives from all sports, from American Football to Sailing.

We’ve been fortunate enough to help find the best talent for a wide variety of businesses which make up the sport and related industries over the past 15 years. From corporate sponsors to agencies, from broadcast & media to sporting goods, SRi’s sector specific teams have been on hand to meet the needs of our diverse client base.8-sector_pie

As the industry changes, new ways of thinking are critical to the success of businesses. Sport, fashion and entertainment companies must work harder than ever to attract the very best talent who are increasingly attracted by tech-based industries. SRi looks beyond the sports market to find the best talent and this will continue as a trend as we grow.

Investing in people

Like any good business, we recognise that people are our most important asset and the main reason that businesses return to us time and time again for help. To ensure we can meet the need of any client based anywhere in the world, the SRi team boasts 12 different nationalities and can speak nine languages – with those numbers set to grow in the year ahead.10-international

The path ahead

mike-squiresOur Chairman, Mike Squires, paused during the drinks reception in London to reflect upon the past 15 years of the company and looked ahead to the future:

“An occasion like this is a great time to stop and reflect on just how much we owe to so many people, from our professional advisers, to our clients and our candidates. You have made our journey so exciting and rewarding. Thank you all for the part you have played throughout our journey, for supporting us and taking an interest in what we have done.

“I’m convinced that the growth and development we’ve experienced in sport, media and entertainment, especially over the last five years, will fade into insignificance compared to what I see happening in the next five years.

“We have started a journey and we’ve had some successes, but it’s the next few years that are very exciting.”
